At 98, my grandmother gave me what would become my last batch of birthday holders.  Made of old sheets, shirts, dresses, and whatever she had, these utilitarian kitchen necessities were truly a labor of love. Five years after Grandma Vi passed away, I realized I was in desperate need of new potholders as the last of the stash had seen better days and needed to be replaced.

My background is in costume design and construction.  I have been fortunate to have worked with Bob Mackie, Greg Barnes, Melanie Burgess and many, many others.  A solid design paired with just the right fabric can create a fabulous piece of art.  And who doesn’t appreciate art – even in the kitchen?  Now, I’m not a genius at the stove, but I do know that necessity does not have to be boring.  Hence, the birth of “Too Haute To Handle Cookwear.”

Made is Seaside, Oregon, “THTH Cookwear” aprons and potholders are made of 100% cotton and full of style. Remember, “You don’t need to know how to cook to be a hautey in the kitchen!”
